Each fee assumes a document of reasonable length and complexity for that type. Documents materially longer or more complex are confirmed in writing before starting work — you'll never be charged more than agreed without prior discussion.

Process

How It Works

Standard turnaround is 24 working hours, starting once we begin your review after the scoping consultation.

01

Submit

Choose your document type, create your account, and upload the document with a short brief — your name, business, and any specific concerns.

02

Pay

Pay the fixed fee online to book your scoping consultation. If we cannot proceed with your matter, the fee is refunded.

03

Consult

Scoping consultation (~30 minutes, online) with the attorney who will review your document. We surface intent, leverage, and what matters to you.

04

Receive

After the consultation we begin the review. Your marked-up Word document and a written memo are emailed within 24 working hours — 48 for complex agreements.

Included in every fee

  • ~30-min scoping consultation with the attorney
  • Personal review of the document — drafted by you, by AI, or from a template
  • Marked-up Word document with tracked amendments (the redline)
  • Written memo: key risks, recommended changes, plain-English summary
  • 30-minute walkthrough call to talk through the redline (complex agreements)
  • Turnaround once we begin the review — 24 working hours for most documents, 48 for complex agreements (shown per document on the price list)
  • Performed personally — no associate or junior involvement

Not included

  • Negotiation with, or correspondence with, the counterparty (quoted separately, hourly)
  • Requested changes or revisions to the redline after delivery (quoted separately)
  • Re-reviewing the document after the counterparty responds
  • Drafting from scratch — see Custom Agreement Drafting
  • Contentious labour disputes (CCMA referrals, disciplinary hearings) — quoted separately
  • Travel or in-person attendance
  • Major scope changes or documents materially longer than typical
  • 15% VAT (added to the fee)

The fee covers one redline and memo for the document as submitted. Any further work — changes to the redline, counterparty negotiation, or re-review — is quoted and agreed with you before it begins.

Why Personal Review Matters

The draft already exists. What you need now is experienced judgement — not another junior draft.

Most law firms hand contract review to associates and supervise lightly. That model assumes the value is in the drafting work itself. AI has changed that — drafts are now cheap, fast, and often eighty percent of the way there.

What's left is the part AI can't do: weighing leverage, reading intent, anticipating how a clause will be argued in two years' time, knowing which industry-standard term has become hostile, and signing your name to the result.

That's the work of an experienced attorney — personally, not delegated. It doesn't get faster by training a junior. It's what you actually pay for — and it's what we deliver.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the clock start, and is every document 24 hours?

After your scoping consultation we begin the review, and the clock starts then — running in working hours, Monday to Friday. A review begun late on a Friday is delivered the next working day. Most documents are delivered within 24 working hours; complex agreements (longer, multi-party, or 12+ pages) are 48. The turnaround for your document is shown on the price list.

When do I pay?

Up-front, to book your consultation. After you choose your document type and upload it, you pay the fixed fee online to secure your scoping consultation slot. If we cannot proceed with your matter, the fee is refunded.

Do you do a conflict check?

Yes. Before accepting any new matter we run a conflict check. We will ask for the counterparty's name when you submit the document so we can confirm there is no conflict before we proceed to consultation.

What if my document is longer than the typical length for that document type?

Each fee assumes a document of reasonable length and complexity for that type. If your document is materially longer or more complex, we will confirm a revised fixed fee in writing before starting work — you'll never be charged more than the agreed amount without prior discussion.

What happens after you deliver the redline — are changes included?

The fee covers the marked-up document (redline), the written memo, the scoping consultation and — for complex agreements — a 30-minute walkthrough call to talk it through. Requested changes or revisions to the redline after delivery, negotiating with or corresponding with the counterparty, and re-reviewing the document after the counterparty responds are not included. Each is quoted and agreed with you before any further work begins.

Do you travel or attend in person?

No. The scoping consultation and any walkthrough call are conducted online or by phone. Travel and in-person attendance are not included in the fixed fee and are quoted separately if required.

What if we cannot proceed with your matter?

If, after the scoping consultation, we cannot proceed with your matter, your fixed fee is refunded. The fee is taken up-front to book the consultation.

Do you review employment contracts?

Yes. Employment and engagement agreements — including standard and fixed-term employment contracts, restraint of trade, executive and director service agreements, and independent contractor agreements — are in our fixed-fee catalogue for review, at the per-document price shown on the price list. Contentious labour matters (CCMA referrals, disciplinary hearings, and dismissal disputes) fall outside this fixed-fee service and are quoted separately.

Do you do urgent or after-hours work?

The standard 24-hour turnaround runs in working hours, Monday to Friday. Faster or after-hours turnaround can be arranged on request and may attract a premium, subject to availability.

Are the fees inclusive of VAT?

No. All fees are quoted exclusive of 15% VAT.
